Ordered List
This will be using a system that correlates a word with another that rhymes with a number. Here’s an example of a 1-10 number/word system, feel free to use this exact one or make your own.

  1. Bun
  2. Shoe
  3. Tree
  4. Door
  5. Hive
  6. Sticks
  7. Heaven
  8. Bait
  9. Vine
  10. Hen
People will often remember things easier if they are out of the ordinary. For example would you remember someone at the store who quietly browsed through the isles, or would you remember the guy in front of you in line yelling at the cashier?

Try to make the links between the words rememberable by making them:

  • Exaggerated – The image must be excessive in size, or sound etc.

  • Absurd – Try to make the linked image humorous or ridiculous.

  • Vulgar – If something is obscene it is easier to recall it.

  • Moving – An image that is moving will usually last longer than one that is still.

  • Colored – Bright colors will help make an image be remembered.

  • Pure – Try to make it simple, if you make it too witty or confusing you will have trouble remembering it.

Let us say for some reason you had to remember the following in order: Head, Neck, Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Fingers, Legs, Knees, Ankle, and Feet.

Bun Head

Picture a person walking outside in the summer heat with a melting Honey Bun Cake on top of his or her head.

Shoe Neck

Imagine someone trying to put a shirt on but it is difficult because they have a really large shoe growing out of the side of their neck.

Tree Shoulder

Imagine someone who has a tree growing out of his shoulder and birds chirping in the tree, then remember that that person always seems to carry an umbrella.

Door Elbow

Imagine a door that uses elbows instead of door hinges.

Hive Wrist

Imagine a wrist watch that has little bee hives as the “arrows” that indicate the time.

Sticks Fingers

Imagine someone who has wooden sticks for fingers.

Heaven Legs

Imagine all the angels having coarse hairy legs.

Bait Knees

Imagine someone fishing without a fishing pole and lure; instead they are kneeling by the water’s edge using knees as bait for the fish.

Vine Ankle

Imagine someone being held to the floor by vines that have grown around his/her ankles.

Hen Feet

Imagine someone being chased by a hen that is trying to peck at his/her feet.
