Goal Setting

  • S.M.A.R.T.
    • Specific
    • Measurable
    • Attainable
    • Realistic

  • Going Wrong

  • Goals may go wrong when they are:
    • Disorganized
    • Unrealistic
    • Beyond Control
    • Vague
    • Too many goals

  • Building Goals

  • Break large or long term goals up into smaller goals. Then plan them and set due dates for them.

Motivation

  • Challenge Negative Self-Talk

    • Censor mental criticism
    • Put the negative in positive perspective

  • Stay Positive

    • One of the most powerful things that effects motivation is how you feel and think about what it is you are trying to accomplish.

    • Use imagination with as many senses as possible
    • Imagine how things would be different if your desired outcome actually happened.

  • Write down what you want to be true about yourself, read or recite it several times a day.
