Steps you can take to avoid avoidance. It is very difficult to completely eliminate procrastination, but you can limit it.
1. Break up large tasks into small tasks. Work on the small tasks consistently.
a) If you have a long essay to write, don’t put it off just because you won’t have enough time today. Instead work on the thesis statement now, and then consider your work done for the day for that essay.
2. Do some work on assignments as soon as you get them.
a) Read over the assignment right after the class. If it’s a reading assignment, skim the Table of Contents. Anything you can do to get your mind started on the project can help you even when you aren’t working on it.
3. Study a little bit each day.
a) Try to avoid letting work pile up.
b) Spend time on each course each day, even if it’s a couple of minutes.
4. Do something after a study session, not before.
